The California Proficiency Testing (CHSPE): www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sp/
The California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE) assesses proficiency in basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills. The test is given in English only. You may take the CHSPE only if you meet one of the following requirements on the test date: You are at least 16 years old, or you have completed at least one academic year of the tenth grade, or You are enrolled in the second semester of tenth grade. The CHSPE is administered twice a year, in April and November. If you pass the CHSPE, you are given a Certificate of Proficiency by the California State Board of Education that is considered equivalent to a high school.
