Private School Satellite Programs

A PSP is a private school which has filed an affidavit. When you sign up, you become a teacher (of your own children) in that school. Your name and address do not appear on the affidavit, but the PSP is required to keep a listing of each teacher and his/her qualifications. The administrator will remind you to turn in the required records and course of study, and there may be other requirements, which will be at the discretion of the director of this private school.

Some PSPs offer a newsletter and activities like park days and field trips for their members. Some PSPs offer curriculum packages; some have administrators who give guidance. As with all educational choices, it is up to the parent to investigate carefully to make sure the PSP is the best choice for their children.

Questions to ask include:

  • How long have you been in business?
  • Did you homeschool your own children (and for how long)?
  • Have you filed the PSA?
  • What services do you offer?
  • What are the requirements of your school?

CHN does not endorse or approve PSPs. The following are businesses that have requested to be listed. As with any private school, it is up to the parent to carefully research and select the service that is best for you. Consider getting personal referrals and pay attention to cancellation and refund policies.

PSPs are not the same as correspondence schools, which fall under homeschooling independently. PSPs file an affidavit and correspondence schools do not, which means the family must file one.
